Eva Cernadas García

I research in the field of computer vision and machine learning: image segmentation, texture analysis, shape recognition, image transformations, color image analysis, classification, regression. I apply these algorithmics to the fields of medicine, food technology, biology or management of marine resources. I have participated in the development of the following available software: CystAnalyser for the automatic detection and quantification of cysts in Polycystic Kidney and Liver Disease, and other cystic disorders, STERapp to do stereological analysis with a friendly graphical interface to allow expert’s supervision (it includes a module to estimate fish fecundity--number and size of mature oocytes in the ovary--) or PDApp is a new reliable and easy-to-use software tool to estimate the Third Molar Eruption Potential from the panoramic radiological images of adolescents/teenagers patients.

Awarded by the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) for the introduction of the gender perspective in machine learning teaching in 2021. She participates in the promotion of equality in the engineering field by designing workshops for primary education in the program " Unha enxeñeira ou cientifica en cada cole" or early childhood education (both in Galician Language), or promoting the "INFORMATIZATE" video contest for non-university students, organized by the Escola Técnica Superior de Enxeñaría of the USC.
