Dora Blanco Heras

I am an associate professor in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). I received a BS in Physics in 1993 and got a PhD cum laude from this university. In the period from 2005 to 2010 I was appointed as the head of the Sustainable Development Office at this university.

My research interests are mainly in the area of high performance and parallel computing including software optimization techniques, performance analysis for irregular codes and, more recently, GPGPU computing. This last area has been addressed with a strong focus on real-time image processing (objective classification, edge detection, visualization…) applied to medical image processing (MRI, CT-scan...) and to images obtained from remote sensing instruments such as hyperspectrometers. I am also interested in human computer interfaces for ecological footprint calculations and other sustainability related indices.
